The Home School Association is a charity, whose purpose is to raise money for the school through fund-raising events during the school year.

each year, we have to send “receipt and payment accounts” which have been independently examined by an accountant or a qualified book keeper to the Charity Commission to make sure we still meet all the requirements that a Charity should.

To clarify this, a timeline guide for the Treasurer’s Report is as follows. Our financial year is from 1st Sept to 31 Aug and our independent book-keeping has just finished our accounts for the financial year 06/07 to then send them to the Charity Commission. We have until the end of June to submit them. Once they come back from the Charity Commission, the Treasurer will then give a report to parents on how the year has gone financially for the Home School Association, i.e. where we have spent and received money.

As there is no longer an obligation to hold a public AGM I have summarised below out receipts and payments for the financial year 2005/2006 so that all parents/carers etc know exactly what has happened with all monies raised.

As mentioned there will be a HSA meeting held at school Thursday where this treasurer’s report will be discussed.

Treasurer’s Summary of 05/06
At the end of the financial year the HSA funds stood at £5700 which included £450 worth of uniform and book bag stock. This was a very similar amount to the year before which meant that approx. all monies raised throughout the year was then subsequently spent on items for the school.

The gross amount raised from all sources of income during the year was £8800. This included £240 in donations - Gift Aid and £240 on tax reclaimed from the Inland Revenue. We wish to thank all parents who have contributed in this way. The tatl amount of expenditure for the HSA for this year totaled £7600 which includes a cheque for £2000 to the school to purchase musical instruments.

Huge successes thisy ear were Cook4Books which raised £505 for the school with each class receiving their specific amount to buy books for their classroom, Mufti Days raised £410, the school disco raised £225 and we had our first ever Fim Night which raised £110. All Mufti Day money raised throughout this year still went specifically towards the purchasing of new or replacing worn out playground equipment for the school.

The 2 main fundraising events during this year were of course the Summer Fete and the Christmas Bazaar which raised £2500 in total, a slight increase on the year before. School uniforms and book bags took approx. £1400 and we bought £1300.

In total at the end of the financial year the HSA accounts stood at £1000 more than when it started.

Headlines for 2006-2007

  • Cook4Books = £423
  • Xmas Bazaar = £1900 profit
  • Summer Fete = £1300 profit
  • 2 Mufti Days = £277 given to school re playground equipment
  • Pampering Evening = £100 profit
  • Easter Raffle = £100 profit
  • White boards & laptops = £4500 given to school
  • Gift Aid = £180

In total we raised over £7800 throughout the year and our expenditure totaled £3500, because we raised so much in the year that allowed the HSA to purchase more whiteboards and laptops for the school so now each classroom possesses one which is a great asset for the school.

This is my last HSA Treasurer’s Report and I wish my successor all the best.
